Strontium (Sr) is an element located below Calcium in the Periodic Table of the Elements. The similarity of the strontium divalent ion to calcium in charge and size allows strontium to compete with calcium for binding to receptors and allows it to pass through voltage dependent calcium channels.
Calcium is involved in many and varied cellular processes, but its involvement in muscle contraction is the one that may be responsible for the effect of Celestite Primer on aging skin: after less than a minute of application, microscopy shows that epidermal ridges become less noticeable. Macroscopically, the skin looks smoother and fuller.
The effect is of the Celestite Primer on the skin is temporary, and after a few hours the skin goes back to its original state. This short-term, Cinderella-type of effect, should be seen is an advantage. Although the long term effect of botulinum toxin makes it a favorite among baby-boomers that want to look more youthful, the very low but distinct possibility of permanent damage to te nerves and muscles is worrying. Conversely, the Celestite Primer's effect is temporary and safe.
The use of strontium taken orally to help with osteoporosis has led to extensive toxicity studies and it has been found that even for long term use, toxicity is not a problem. In addition, the capacity of strontium ions to "displace" calcium maybe responsible for the analgesic effect of strontium, an effect taken advantage of in products like dentifrices and arthritic pain. Calcium is thought to play a role in the pain process by regulating the release of the chemicals that nerve cells use to communicate, and strontium would compete with calcium, effectively hindering entrance of calcium into the nerve cell.

“Just wanted to share my testimonial about the Celestite. I've been jonesing for this serum after reading all the positive reviews, so I went ahead and ordered the 4 oz spray, which arrived late yesterday afternoon. I used it for the first time today.Let me preface by saying that I have been cleaning since 7am, which always launches my allergies and itchy skin into overdrive. PLUS, I decided to clean out the closets and wash all the blankets, pillows, etc., so the dust and dust-mite factor is in exponential proportions right now!
My skin has been itching like crazy all day, and just got worse after I got into the shower. As soon as I got out (after towel drying) I spritzed the Celestite all over, AND THE ITCHING STOPPED!!! There was a slight - but not at all annoying - tingle, but that's it.

“I tried it this morning on
one side of my face and I really like it. I felt the effect immediately, which
prompted me to poke at my skin on both sides with my fingers. How silly, but
that's what I did. The skin just felt better on that side...not really numb,
just calmer or muted. It felt less reactive through my morning routine of
showering, washing my face, applying medication, potions, sunscreen, etc.
I
really tested it out by applying all my products and going out in the hot
weather. It was in the 90s today and after being outside for a few hours I
noticed very slight sensitivity on the untreated side when my hair brushed
against it. I brushed my hair against the treated side and felt no sensitivity.
My skin is sensitive, so little wisps of hair can "tickle" it easily. The
Celestite side is not ticklish
While my skin is not nearly as sensitive as
it used to be, the effect was noticeable for me. It's about 5 hours later and
still feels great.
This is a big deal because if you can feel your rosacea
it's hard forget about it and you lose concentration. It can be very

“I forgot to try the sample yesterday. I also forgot to put it in a spray bottle. So this morning, I put the serum on right after washing my face, concentrating on my lip area (which has the deepest wrinkles.) I layered it after each layer of serums and my final cream. It felt a little numbing for a little bit, but probably because I was looking for a reaction more than anything. I always put my lipstick on in the car (I don't know why!). Anyway, I noticed my lip looked fuller. I think it was because the wrinkles were more smoothed out. And even if I pucker my lips, the lines aren't coming back like normal. “I don't have wrinkles, but I have a few light lines on my forehead. You couldn't really see them. What I did notice is on my forehead it became tight and looked wonderful! “I thought I should register with the forum so I could give my feedback on my sample of Celestite. I was one of the truly fortunate ones to receive the sample of the Celestite. I too would not want to run out of this stuff. It is absolutely great. The first time I used it I tried to pat it on. I didn't really notice too much. I then poured it all into a spritz bottle and did a light spray (over mineral make up) Instantly I felt an overall tightening feeling. I get really heavy undereye bags which it seemed to tighten and look smaller. Eye wrinkles were diminished. For me battling this for years puts a lot of age on some one and this is a big bonus. I noticed my other face wrinkles were lighter (not gone) and my face looked rested instead of tired, which comes with age.
