The last craze to arrive in the skin care industry but, this time, it's not just hype. Idebenone, a chemical very similar to Coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinone) is synthetic and can substitute for Coenzyme Q10 in the electron transport chain. The idea is that mitochondrial function can be limited by CoQ10 and idebenone will help older mitochondria work better. Taking into account that electron transport is a crucial part of respiration and energy production, idebenone makes sense. Adding Skin Actives idebenone to your favorite cream or lotion will not cost you $110 for 1 oz (as in a fancy store) but just a few dollars, and will work just as well.

 

Use: add the contents of the tube to 5 oz. of cream (for 1% concentration) or to 10 oz. for 0.5% concentration, and then mix. Idebenone (similar to many other actives) does not like acidic pH. Do not add to an ascorbic acid cream (such as Murad treatment C). It would be better to use a simple, inexpensive cream. Note that the color is quite intense (this is not a dye, but the natural coloration), so lower concentrations may be preferable.

 

Allergy Warning: While the FDA has not published warnings on idebenone we have found that a small number of our customers (less than 0.5% of customers who have tried idebenone) may have developed a mild allergy to it. When first using idebenone test your cream on the inside part of your elbow to see whether you develop an adverse reaction. If you develop an allergy please discontinue use and contact us . We will exchange your idebenone for a different anti-oxidant.

Each tube is enough for about 5-10 oz of cream or lotion (depending on concentration) and can be combined with our other actives. Use in your favourite cream or purchase our Canvas base cream or Sea Kelp bioferment (sea kelp is perfect for people with oily skin).
