The name "oryzanol" comes from Oryza sativa, rice. This complex of ferulic acid esters is extracted from rice bran oil. The chemical structure of this complex gives it biological properties similar to those of ferulic acid but it is easier to dissolve.

Properties: UV absorber, antioxidants, cancer preventive, protects the skin against UVB-induced erythema, skin lightener.

 

Use: add half teaspoon of this fine white powder to base cream or oil and mix.
