Three DIY Skincare Recipes Using Green Tea | Skin Actives

Posted by Brendan Leonard on Mar 2nd 2021

We’re back with a DIY Spotlight! Today we’re looking at Green Tea.

Aside from its unique and delicious coloring, green tea is known for its antioxidant properties.

Green tea is great for our faces and for fighting the signs of aging and irritation. Green tea is generally very heavy with polyphenols. Polyphenols themselves can be classified as catechins which are antioxidants. And you know Skin Actives Scientific, we love antioxidants!

Four great reasons to incorporate green tea into your skin routine

  1. Anti-Aging activity - Since the root of physical aging is placed so firmly in oxidization, the antioxidant power of green tea is firmly on your side. Purge free radicals from your cells to look and feel younger.
  2. Anti-inflammatory action - The polyphenols that contain the antioxidants we’re already benefiting from are also known for their anti-inflammatory activity. Green tea is already rich in these two components helping it fight against redness and other signs of irritation.
  3. Anti-acne control - Some research suggests that topical application of green tea helps your skin to moderate oil and sebum secretion, which in turn reduces outbreaks of acne. If you look closely, you’ll find green tea in our fan-favorite Zit Ender.
  4. Anti-puff confidence - Last but not least, green tea is a great source of caffeine. Okay, fair, you know that already from the various energy drinks that have been going around for years, up to and including delicious iced green tea! But that caffeine is also helping you fight the puffiness under your eyes, so that alone is a win.

All in all, there are a lot of great reasons to include green tea in your regimen. These reasons, and many others! Convinced? Let’s apply this active to some DIY projects.
