Wrinkle Prevention, 3 Ways
Posted by Brendan Leonard on Apr 1st 2022
Maybe when you look in the mirror you wish you could get rid of your wrinkles.
That’s fair, getting older is not necessarily easy or fun. And reminders of time gone by staring back at you from your reflection can be a lot sometimes.
But wrinkles aren’t all bad! Remember that they are signs also of all the good times you have had and all the miles you have traveled to become the person you are today.
Let’s imagine that while potentially showing signs of distinction and character, wrinkles are not necessarily something that you’d run from, maybe they are something you’d like to put off. So how do we put off wrinkles as long as possible? How do we save looking older, distinguished and venerable until we are well, older, distinguished and venerable?
Fortunately there are a lot of ways that we can keep our youthful look until it's actually time to give it up.
Prevention is key here. Once wrinkles form, only really radical steps can “remove” them, and those aren’t the kind of procedures or approaches to self-love and self-care that Skin Actives Scientific endorses.
So what can you do to prevent wrinkles before they start? Let’s take a look!
Natural Wrinkle Prevention
There are a few things that anyone can do to keep their crow’s feet from forming. These simple tips don’t take any special products or treatments.
Likely as not there won’t be many surprises on this list. Sometimes living the best life available to us is the hardest thing to do. While there are many easy steps on this list, many people overlook these wrinkle prevention steps early in their lives.
1. Eat Right - We’re not so much into weight loss here at Skin Actives or trying to make you feel like you need to fit into a particular pair of skinny jeans from your college days. What we will say is that your body functions very much like you would expect from a machine. For instance, if you don’t put gas into your car, if you don’t get an oil change regularly, and if you don’t buy new tires until one goes flat, you’re not going to get the most out of your car. That’s not a judgment, that’s just how machines work.
Your body needs certain things to function well too. Unfortunately those are not the most fun things to eat. Regardless, your body needs the vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients found in fruits and vegetables. While we often remind you that your body deprioritizes your skin, that doesn’t mean that you should give up on food as a nutritional source! Your body is made of interconnecting systems and what influences one will have an effect on another. So eat right! You’ll feel better and stave off signs of aging too.
2. Reduce Your Exposure to the Sun - It’s really hard to overstate how damaging the sun is to your skin. Perhaps it’s because Skin Actives Scientific is located in Arizona, but we’re very fixated on sun damage and its effect on your skin. Arizona is known as a melanoma state, yet there are just as many people here bronzing their skin by “laying out” as there are anywhere else, (probably more)! We find this seriously disconcerting, not because of the way that exposure to UV promotes wrinkles, but because of the long term implication for your overall health.
Wearing a wide brimmed hat is a great start to reducing sun exposure. Long sleeves and then even just simply spending more time indoors or in shade will help immensely as well. Look up when the highest expectations for UV are for your area and then try and stay out of direct sunlight during those times.
3. Wear Sunscreen - Okay, so, for a long time this was in every email. We’re very passionate about it here at Skin Actives. This is the thing: every contemporary person should be wearing sunscreen, everyday. Unless you live in a subterranean bunker (sorry if you do, that sounds rough), you are being exposed to UV light through direct sunshine, the windows of your house, the windows of your car, even to a very limited extent from the screens you use to work.
Even if you live in overcast climes you should apply sunscreen to your face and other exposed parts of your body every day. This is a simple habit to get into. Start small with some Advanced Protection SPF 30 or some Anti-Aging Day Cream by Skin Actives. Or use a brand that you already love! We don’t care. We want you to protect yourself with SPF regardless of where it’s from and to make that a daily habit.
Skincare for Wrinkles
So, we wouldn’t be Skin Actives Scientific if we didn’t inform you as to how the practical application of science could help you in this endeavor. Following the basic guidance above will help, but you can go a step further and protect your youthful mien with topically applied active ingredients.
Check out some of the following Skin Actives favs. These products have been helping people fend off physical aging for years, and represent some of the most highly rated products in our collection.
Our classic Collagen Serum is definitely our best serum for wrinkles. One of the main catalysts for the appearance of wrinkles is the breakdown of collagen manufacture in your skin. Collagen builds connection and elasticity, so making sure that your collagen production is working at optimum levels early on will keep you in the right zone for defending against wrinkles. You can start early with our Collagen Serum, or you can use it as you age to maintain your skin’s current flexibility and head new wrinkles off at the pass.
Hyaluronic Acid Serum with EGF
Dry skin is brittle in a way that is more easily damaged. Protecting yourself with moisturized skin via hyaluronic acid has become an incredibly popular way to maintain skin health in recent years.
Skin Actives has taken this fix one step further and added in our very own epidermal growth factor. Let’s be frank, the daily application of EGF gets visible results. Epidermal growth factor’s ability to restart dormant cells fights aging and wrinkle development, keeping your skin functioning in a youthful way.
Our Vitamin A Serum does more than just fight blemishes. Mild retinol acetate works to keep you blemish free while also supporting collagen production. Also noted previously, collagen production keeps your skin limber and behaving in a youthful fashion.
If you have delicate skin or are prone to breakouts, Vitamin A Serum is perfect for you. Avoid the side effects of anti-blemish retinoid based drugs with this mild formulation that keeps you naturally clear without the downsides of a medication.
Remember though, using any retinol based product will make your skin more susceptible to damage from sunlight. So even though our Vitamin A Serum is formulated to be mild, only use it at night before you go to bed, and wear sunscreen the next day.
