7 Reasons to Love Apocynin For Skin Care | Skin Actives

Why we love Apocynin
While everyone else is talking about plant-based skin care, we have been researching unique ingredients to enhance our products. Apocynin is one such active that is a well kept secret. We love this ingredient for many reasons and think that you will too.
First of all, we love it because it is old.
Apocynin is not a new idea or a fad. Apocynin is as old as the plants that make it, and there are many of them. Even its health promoting properties have been known to researchers and formulators for quite a while. This means that we know more of its tricks, its benefits and most importantly that it is safe for people to use on their skin. At Skin Actives, we care about your skin and only use ingredients that have a proven safety record.
Second, we love it because it has anti-inflammatory activity.
Extracts containing apocynin have been used for centuries to help with asthma and heart problems. Scientists have been purifying it since 1883 and synthesizing it since 1891 for its anti-inflammatory properties both internally and on the skin.
Thirdly, Apocynin smells nice.
It has a faint vanilla-like scent since it is derived from the vanilla plant. You may not smell it much in our products because we pack our products full of beneficial active ingredients, but don’t worry, it’s in there.
Fourth, Apocynin promotes healthy skin.
Apocynin is the dream of the phytochemist, biochemist, and skin care specialist. It has a beautiful mechanism of action and it promotes the health of our skin (and other tissues). It works in combination with all of the other active ingredients we’ve diligently added to our Advanced Ageless line, you will love how your skin looks and feels, but more importantly, you can feel confident that your skin is getting the nutrients it needs for long-term skin health.
Number 5, Apocynin promotes the synthesis of collagen.
NADPH oxidase is a specific enzyme that increases oxidative stress by producing ROS* (Reactive Oxygen Species). Apocynin inhibits this enzyme thereby decreasing oxidative stress. Apocynin also promotes the synthesis of a protein, collagen 17, crucial for the anchoring of newly formed stem cells, and its end effect will be to accelerate healing, delay aging and promote skin health.
Number 6, Apocynin works with your hair too!
When it comes to your hair, the stem cells that make collagen 17 will keep producing hair, rather than becoming just another skin cell that is shed before its time. We can expect that Apocynin, by promoting collagen 17, will also prevent hair loss; and we know that it should decrease oxidative stress which should slow hair greying too.
Number 7, Apocynin works together with Antioxidants.
If you have to face a polluted environment, Apocynin will help your Skin Actives products protect your skin, hair and nails. Because so much of aging is accelerated by oxidative stress, apocynin and ROS BioNet will act in concert to extend the life of your stem cells and the daughter cells they produce. ROS BioNet is a blend of antioxidant proteins created in the Skin Actives’ lab by Dr. Hannah Sivak. We will talk more about it in a future blog.
