Summer Skin Repair

Summer is coming to an end soon, which means changing your skincare routine to help repair the damage from those long days in the sun and elements, and prep your skin for the dry fall and winter months ahead. Don’t fret over those sun spots or dry spots on your face and neck; those are typical after months of even the most aggressive sun protection. We can help with a little change to your routine and a switch of some products.
Skincare experts & Dermatologists seem to agree on these key things:
- Exfoliation is key to removing dead skin that is sitting dry on your face to showcase the more supple skin beneath. Remember - exfoliation does NOT mean harsh, gritty, rough chemicals. If you can double dip by changing your cleanser, you have a win-win formula! We suggest our Repairing Cleanser with Salicylic Acid. This is a gentle cleanser that helps repair damaged skin. A hint of salicylic acid discourages blemishes with lightweight exfoliation, while ceramides provide the lipid content needed to maintain an optimal skin barrier. Plant-sourced tremella rounds out the balanced formula, delivering more moisture by volume than hyaluronic acid.
- You may also want to switch up your moisturizer as it’s one of the most important parts of rejuvenating your skin after long summer days. Moving from heavier protective creams to lighter moisturizers leads the recommendations. We recommend our Dewy Light Moisturizer. This product was tailored for combination to oily skin types and those seeking to mend damaged skin barriers. This lightweight gem offers balanced daytime hydration enriched with a potent blend of ingredients including Avocado Oil, Sea Kelp Bioferment, and Raspberry Seed Oil, helping to revitalize, nourish, and restore your skin's innate radiance.
- If you are challenged with redness, our Redness Reduction Serum is the ultimate solution for those seeking to soothe and calm red, irritated skin. Formulated with a blend of natural ingredients such as aloe, sea kelp bioferment, green tea, collagen, and hyaluronic acid, this serum works to hydrate and nourish the skin while reducing the appearance of redness. Our Redness Reduction Serum has two powerful ingredients that others do not: EGF and superoxide dismutase. EGF, or epidermal growth factor, is a protein that stimulates cell growth and repair. Superoxide dismutase, on the other hand, is an enzyme that helps to neutralize free radicals, protecting the skin from oxidative damage and reducing inflammation and premature aging.
- For protection of your skin during the fall and winter, switch out some of your HLA-intense products for protective barriers and repair such as the Regenerating Defensin Serum, which has Honey Bee Defensin-1 which mobilizes skin keratinocytes, elevating natural mechanisms for reversing damage loss of structure, and our Antioxidant Serum which helps fight free radicals formed by exposure to the sun, pollution, blue light and heat better than Vitamin C alone. You may also want to add the Every Lipid Serum, complete with hydration and nutrient components that will rejuvenate your skin, or our Vitamin A Serum where we’ve used a mild form of Vitamin A, retinyl acetate. Retinyl Acetate is known to promote and support the synthesis of collagen and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Outside of changing up your skincare routine and products, many of our amazing customers have a solid routine of getting into their trusted Aesthetician for a nice microdermabrasion, chemical peel, or gentle laser to help slough off that damage and set the skin up for a new season! Here's to keeping your summer glow well into the fall, and beyond.
